Snow Day at Camp 2

Shoveling snow at Camp 1

Well our laid plans are always subject to Mother Nature’s master plan. As we finished dinner last night the snow was steady. It continued throughout the night. Around 4 AM, order we heard Ben announcing to stay put until 8 and we would decide what to do after breakfast.

It had snowed about a foot (33cm) of new snow obscuring trails but more importantly crevasses. With our route today to establish the cache around Windy Corner, it needed to be clearer to be safe. So today, Sunday July 3rd is an unscheduled day in Camp 2.

We dug the tents out, cleared paths to the kitchen tent and had a leisurely breakfast of hash browns and sausage. The rest of the day will be passed with reading, playing cards, chats and naps; oh and an eye towards the sky hoping for clearing.

Our schedule has room for days like this so no need to worry.

Climb On!

best wishes from TX, and good luck to you. An extra day or two won’t matter that much, I am sure you still remember well, we’d been waiting out things for much longer just recently… and say hi to Jay!
