We leave for the summit of Elbrus tonight after midnight. I will turn the SPOT on when we leave High Camp.

The last two days have been spent acclimatizing through climbing to 14,500′ to Lenz Rocks on the East part of Elbrus and a rest day today (Wednesday 8/10) at the High Camp at 12,000′.

I am feeling excellent and am anxious to start climbing. It should take between 10 to 12 hours round trip. The weather has been good with afternoon clouds that clear overnight with temperatures in the mid 20s.

This is the 5th climb in the 7 Summits Climb for Alzheimer’s: Memories are Everything. In conversations with my Russian teammates, I am once again struck by how widespread this disease has become. They have shared stories of their own relatives who have suffered through the journey as have they in family caregiver roles in some cases.

I will send a voice dispatch from the summit and post many more pictures once I return back home.

For now, you all know how much I value your support as I continue to take our message of hope and urgency to the top of each continent.
