  1. Enjoyed reading your blog! – Calvin Smith, Austin, TX (McLean’s sister)

  2. Congratulations! Did you end up doing the Ferrari or the French direct? How is the cornice and the route? How about Quitaraju?
    Cheers

    1. Thanks Charlie, we took the French Direct route to the ridge and then summit proper.. The route was steep (50 to 65) with hard ice in the middle third. We did not attempt Quitaraju due to crevasse danger. It had not been attempted this season thus far. I will post a compete report in a day or so.

  3. CONGRATS Alan – sounds like you had excellent conditions once the weather settled down. 8 rappels down – fun! All the best and look forward to the post-report and pics. Safe travels!

  4. Good job Alan! I am looking forward to being on Alpamayo around the 16th of July. The reports and your successful summit have made me even more excited. After the dicey 2012 Everest season I really looking forward to some fun in the Cordillera Blanca mountains!

  5. Congratulations to the team. Alan- excellent climbing and thanks for keeping us up to date with the whole trip. Loved it! Safe returns..tc
