Alan you're such a credit not only to your cause, but to this crazy sport you love, and the people that help make it happen. I hope they show you half as much respect as you show the Sherpas.

Alan...fantastic coveage of the real heroes and what I often refer to as the "essence of Mt. Everest." I know you met my savior Danuru II and I loved Kami too.I will never forget all the Sherpas getting paid at base camp at the end of the climb and then running down the trail to their homes and waiting families...put tears in my eyes.
Thanks for not only showing off their climbing prowess, but their true spirit.

Have I read before that some have actually "skied" down Lhotse? I can't imagine with the ice, but nothing surprises me anymore what people can accomplish. Great article, Alan.

Thnaks Ginger. Hey, one day you'll get there! As for reporting from EBC directly, it is actually more productive to do it from afar and use sources there actually climbing but I appreciate the thought.

I'm thrilled that climbing season is just around the corner but its not quite here yet. These blog posts are the only thing keeping my obsession from driving me nuts! Im glad you did the piece on Himex, I have always had a huge respect for the way Russell Brice handles his expeditions and his clients, and I'm happy to see that you agree, having been there to see it in person. If I ever do make the base camp trek, I hope to hike in at a time when he's on the south side and in camp. Would be the dream of a lifetime. If you were there as well, I could die happy LOL. And I agree with the other poster, you need to be in base camp reporting for us LIVE!! Now that would make some happy memories for us all!
