Climbers of all skills know of\u00a0 the Eiger. This 13, check<\/a> 025′ peak in the Swiss Alps has been a topic of legend and tales for centuries. The North face has been lusted and sought out by climbers and was featured in the Clint Eastwood classic, the Eiger Sanction. \"EigerIt was first climbed in 1938 and 64 climbers have died attempting the steep and dangerous north face.<\/p>\n

NORTH FACE is a gripping adventure drama about a competition to climb the most dangerous rock face in the Alps.\u00a0 It\u2019s 1936, and Nazi propaganda urges German Alpinists to conquer the unclimbed north face of the Swiss massif, the Eiger North Face \u2013 aka \u201cMurder Wall\u201d \u2013 before the Olympic Games begin.\u00a0 The legendary 1800-meter-high wall of stone and ice has been casting its spell for decades, and two young hot-shot Bavarian climbers, Toni Kurz (BENNO F\u00dcRMANN) and Andi Hinterstoisser (FLORIAN LUKAS), are finally lured into the challenge.<\/p>\n

Beginning their ascent, the German rope team initially makes good headway, followed closely by two Austrians.\u00a0 But after that auspicious start, the climbers lose their advantage over the mountain, and the race against time and the forces of nature begins.\u00a0 Realistically shot, NORTH FACE reveals the brutal struggle to survive on the mountain.\u00a0 Director\/screenwriter Philipp St\u00f6lzl keeps viewers as breathless as if they were climbing the mountain themselves, rather than sitting comfortably in a theatre.<\/p>\n

Few people may remember the story of Toni Kurz and Andi Hinterstoisser directly, but many will find their own reflection in these characters \u2013 not only Alpinists and nature lovers, but all who are still searching for their path in life.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
