Use this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opencongress.org\/people\/zipcodelookup\" target=\"_blank\">link<\/a> to find your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opencongress.org\/people\/zipcodelookup\" target=\"_blank\">Representative<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This summary is from the Cure Alzheimer&#8217;s Fund:<\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<blockquote><p>Cure Alzheimer&#8217;s Fund is extremely happy with the House Appropriations Subcommittee bill for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that was <a href=\"http:\/\/appropriations.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=394272\" target=\"_blank\">released today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The bill,   medicine<\/a>  which still has to be approved by the Committee and full House, includes a $1.1 billion increase for NIH, a more than 25% increase for the National Institute on Aging (which funds more than 70% of the Alzheimer&#8217;s disease research at NIH), and calls for an additional $300 million of that increase to be used for Alzheimer&#8217;s disease research.<\/p>\n<p>The call for an additional $300 million would be a significant increase in funding for Alzheimer&#8217;s disease research and show a continuing commitment, even within continuing tight budgets, to find additional resources for Alzheimer&#8217;s disease research.<\/p>\n<p>The additional funding is a big step in the right direction of getting to the $2 billion a year in research funding experts have said is necessary to meet the 2025 goal of stopping Alzheimer&#8217;s disease.<\/p>\n<p>We will continue to work with Congress and the Administration to reach that $2 billion goal as fast as possible.<\/p>\n<p>The work of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on this bill has made that goal a lot closer and we applaud them for their efforts and their demonstrated commitment to Alzheimer&#8217;s disease research funding.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>Memories are Everything<\/p>\n<p>Alan<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alzheimer&#8217;s research budget would increases by $300 Million if today&#8217;s proposed bill is approved.
