The United Nations estimates that 2.8 million people were displaced after the earthquake and its aftershocks flattened their homes.<\/p>\n<p>Quick Facts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>72% said they had to <strong>leave their homes<\/strong> because of the aftershocks.<\/li>\n<li>90% of the households surveyed across districts reported some kind of <strong>damage<\/strong> following the earthquake.<\/li>\n<li>Most of the buildings built from stone were <strong>flattened<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>60% of the households surveyed said they had begun to build <strong>temporary shelters<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>69% of the households reported a significant decline in <strong>income<\/strong> following the earthquake as most relied on subsistence <strong>gardening<\/strong> and their <strong>livestock<\/strong> to earn money.<\/li>\n<li>31% of households have no source of <strong>energy<\/strong> after the earthquake.<\/li>\n<li>21% of those surveyed believed they would be protected during the <strong>monsoon<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>31% of the households said quality of <strong>water<\/strong> has declined<\/li>\n<li>high risk of the spread of the <strong>hepatitis<\/strong> E, largely because of contaminated water and food supplies.<\/li>\n<li>11% of the respondents reporting that they don\u2019t have access to any <strong>toilet<\/strong> facilities<\/li>\n<li>70% of the households said they were receiving public <strong>information<\/strong> by word-of-mouth<\/li>\n<li>40% of households reported that they don\u2019t have access to <strong>education<\/strong> facilities<\/li>\n<li>10% reporting that they did not have any access to <strong>health<\/strong> services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/qz.com\/431350\/10-charts-that-capture-how-nepal-is-struggling-to-survive-after-the-earthquake\" target=\"_blank\">See the full survey here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To help, I suggest donating to thee organization where 100% of your money will go directly to the earthquake victims.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dzi.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dzi<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.himalayanstoveproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Himalayan Stove Project<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.giveforward.com\/fundraiser\/f7v8\/pangboche-earthquake-disaster-relief-fund\" target=\"_blank\">Pangoboche Rebuilding Fund<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Alan<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The crisis in Nepal after the earthquake continues with over 8, \u00a0800 dead,\u00a022,000 injured, 500,000 homes severely damaged, 3 million homeless.
