After a few individuals – three foreigners and three Sherpas – summited just after nine\u00a0Sherpas\u00a0fixed the route to the summit, the first commercial teams are seeing success on Friday morning, May 13, 2016<\/p>\n
Himex<\/strong> sent their entire team up and are reporting that all six\u00a0have summited about 9:00 am along with at least that many\u00a0Himex Sherpas. They had 5 members\u00a0climbing, plus 1 guide and at least 6 Sherpas.<\/p>\n Update<\/span><\/strong>: The summitters were:\u00a0Richard Grant Hunter,\u00a0Andreas Friedrich,\u00a0Tracee Lee Metcalfe,\u00a0Jacob Wilem Ottink,\u00a0Gregory Scott Paul, Jagged Globe<\/strong> has at least\u00a0two climbers\u00a0on the summit around 9:45 am local time. They were near the South Summit just past 8:00 am. They had four members plus at least\u00a0that many Sherpas.<\/p>\n Update<\/strong><\/span>: JG reported the summits as\u00a0David Hamilton, Nick Talbot, Mary\u00a0<\/span>Scannell and Steve Waterman <\/span> with Sherpas Pem Chhiri, Tamding, Nima Gyalzen,\u00a0<\/span>Chhimi and Ang Rinji. They descended to the South\u00a0Col where they spent the night.<\/span><\/p>\n Asian Trekking<\/strong><\/p>\n Asian Trekking reports Jelly Veyt, Tahar Manai and Julian David Moutain also summtied on 13 May\u00a0at 10:31 am along with Dawa Tshering Bhote<\/p>\n At this point, the climbers are both elated and exhausted. Most arrived in the full light of the morning sun after climbing for 8 to 12 hours, mostly in the dark.<\/p>\n There will be hugs, smiles and definitely\u00a0tears. Hopefully, no one forgot their cameras\u00a0as selfies and poses with their Sherpa will be in order. The Sherpas will take a lot of pictures including\u00a0of themselves.
