Look to budget at least $30K for a north side climb and $40K for a south side climb assuming you are looking to go a couple of years from now. Go with a quality organization, not the lowest price one.<\/p>\n<p>Here are ten key factors to consider for planning an Everest expedition:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Build your climbing <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fund<\/span><\/strong>: create a plan to prioritize climbing expenses in your overall income and expense plan.<\/li>\n<li>Find <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">like minded climbers<\/span><\/strong> with similar goals you can train with and count on in difficult times: Join a <a href=\"http:\/\/peteandedbooks.com\/mclubs.htm\" target=\"_blank\">club<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Get in <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">shape<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; you need a basic level of fitness to start climbing including stamina and aerobic conditioning: Interval training, long runs and climbs, anything that takes several hours is good training: A good program can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bodyresults.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Body Results<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powerfitusa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">PowerFit<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Lean the <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">basics<\/span><\/strong> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rei.com\/outdoorschool\" target=\"_blank\">wilderness medicine<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/avtraining.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">avalanche training<\/a> and mountaineering through a course: Look into courses with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rmiguides.com\/s\/\" target=\"_blank\">RMI<\/a> , <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rei.com\/outdoorschool\" target=\"_blank\">REI <\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/avtraining.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">AIARE<\/a> <\/li>\n<li>Accumulate the  quality <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">gear<\/span><\/strong> you can . Don&#8217;t skimp because it could mean your fingers, toes or your life at 8000m: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alpineascents.com\/everest-g.asp\" target=\"_blank\">AAI<\/a> has an excellent gear and brand suggestion list. <\/li>\n<li>Climb mountains that limit your risk but still allow you to <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">learn<\/span><\/strong> such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainguides.com\/rainier.shtml\">Rainier<\/a> or difficult 14ers in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.14ers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Colorado<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/pweb.jps.net\/~prichins\/ca14000.htm\" target=\"_blank\">California<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Test<\/span><\/strong> your skills on a high mountain such as Aconcagua and a tough snow mountain like Denali: Go with a proven guide who will teach you as well as guide.<\/li>\n<li>Climb to <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">8000m<\/span><\/strong> on Cho Oyu before Everest to experience expedition life, extreme altitude and understand how your body performs: Ideally, go with the same guide you will select for Everest<\/li>\n<li>Work on your <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">mental toughness<\/span><\/strong> by pushing yourself in harsh conditions: Run in the pouring rain, climb on the coldest and windiest route at night you can muster, cycle when dead tired, climb with a pack heavier than you will use on your next climb<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Hone<\/span><\/strong> your climbing skills to be as self sufficient on every climb as possible including knots, crevasse rescue, winter camping techniques, cooking.
