July 14th<\/sup> was predicted to\u00a0have\u00a0acceptable winds on the summit of K2<\/strong> but as is normal in the\u00a0Karakoram\u00a0and especially K2, the weather\u00a0changed\u00a0dramatically causing everyone to\u00a0quickly\u00a0descend back to\u00a0base\u00a0camp.<\/p>\n So the good news is those climbers have spent quite a few nights at Camps 1, 2 and 3 thusly\u00a0improved their acclimatization. The bad news is they also spent a lot of energy\u00a0and for some teams, supplemental oxygen, so\u00a0far.<\/p>\n Over on Broad Peak<\/strong>, most reports have climbers making the same quick descent to base\u00a0camp as over on K2 but it has also been reported that\u00a02 Slovenian climbers, Ale\u0161 ?esen and Luka Lindi? summited Broad Peak.\u00a0They\u00a0apparently did not use fixed ropes and pushed hard to beat the weather. The daring duo will now move on to the Shining Wall of Gasherbrum IV.<\/p>\n Over on Gasherbrum II<\/strong>, the US team has established and cached gear at C3 ~23,000.<\/p>\n The weather looks bad for next several days so\u00a0climbers\u00a0will hole up in their tents to recover from this false start. Hopefully the next window will\u00a0appear\u00a0as forecasted towards end of July but as we know the weather in the\u00a0Karakoram\u00a0is rather\u00a0finicky.<\/p>\n Climb On!
