This weather window has been about as good as it gets on Everest. Yes, there has been a bit of wind now and then but overall, it&#8217;s looking like a record number of consecutive days of summits may happen. Saturday 19 May makes the seventh straight day and there are teams headed up Saturday night for Sunday summits as well as for Monday and Tuesday summits.<\/p>\n<h3>Nepal &#8211; 50+<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adventureconsultants.com\/latest-news\/dispatches-everest-expedition-2018\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adventure Consultants<\/a>\u00a0continued their success with 100% on the summit, 6 members, 2 guides and 13 Sherpas.\u00a0<span class=\"fwn fcg\"><span class=\"fcg\"><span class=\"fwb\"><a id=\"js_9e\" class=\"profileLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Sangeetasbahl?hc_ref=ARRbmFJTUolra7wouJ0QwCT8xKYTv2ONi9-03oXGZITH0INHHeo2KEY61Iwqh_gUs3w\" data-ft=\"{&quot;tn&quot;:&quot;l&quot;}\" data-hovercard=\"\/ajax\/hovercard\/user.php?id=570487053&amp;extragetparams=%7B%22hc_ref%22%3A%22ARRbmFJTUolra7wouJ0QwCT8xKYTv2ONi9-03oXGZITH0INHHeo2KEY61Iwqh_gUs3w%22%7D\" data-hovercard-prefer-more-content-show=\"1\" data-hovercard-referer=\"ARRbmFJTUolra7wouJ0QwCT8xKYTv2ONi9-03oXGZITH0INHHeo2KEY61Iwqh_gUs3w\" aria-describedby=\"js_9d\" aria-owns=\"js_9c\">Sangeeta S Bahl<\/a>\u00a0made her summit after ending early last year. She and her husband\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><span id=\"fb-timeline-cover-name\" class=\"_2t_q\" data-testid=\"profile_name_in_profile_page\"><a class=\"_2nlw _2nlv\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ankur.bahl.9\">Ankur Bahl<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"fwn fcg\"><span class=\"fcg\"><span class=\"fwb\">are both Everest summiteers now. He summited in 2016 at age 55! He believes his wife is the oldest Indian female to have summited at\u00a053 years 3 months and 10 days. She was a Miss India finalist in 1985.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pg\/7summittreks\/posts\/?ref=page_internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Seven Summits Treks<\/a> had all their Indian team summit, 7 members with 8 Sherpas. Tim Mosedale reports two members and Sherpas summited.<\/p>\n<h3>Tibet &#8211; 30+<\/h3>\n<p>Danish Everest climber Rasmus Kragh turned back 820&#8217;\/250m from the summit. He was trying to become the first Dane to summit without supplemental oxygen or Sherpa climbing support.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pg\/TranscendAdventures\/posts\/?ref=page_internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Transcend<\/a> has at least two members on the summit out of their third team. A member&#8217;s illness delayed them by at least one day. The member was taken to the Nepal border and flown to Kathmandu where I&#8217;m told he is out of danger. Looks like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitclimb.com\/news\/recent\/everest-tibet-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Summit Climb<\/a> summited from the Tibet side , no details. Also, after a bit of a wait,\u00a0<a class=\"_64-f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/AlyssaAzarAdventurer\/\">Alyssa Azar<\/a>\u00a0is reported to have summited.<\/p>\n<h3>Wave 7 underway for Sunday morning summits 20 May<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/matt.moniz.96\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Moniz<\/a> and Willie Benegas are on their summit push now nearing the Balcony. They hope to summit Everest on the 20th and Lhotse on the 21st. \u00a0You can follow Willie&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/share.garmin.com\/BenegasBrothers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GPS tracker<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/share.garmin.com\/Climb7ExpeditionsAlpha\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt&#8217;s<\/a>. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/7summitsclub.com\/newssections\/all_1\/newssection_341_1\/item_9157\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">7 Summits Club<\/a>\u00a0are hoping for continued success for their last three teams.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/alpenglowexpeditions.com\/blog\/everest-update\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alpenglow<\/a>&#8216;s Cho Oyu summit team are climbing now. Also,\u00a0South African, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sibusiso.vilane\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sibusiso Vilane<\/a>\u00a0who has summited from both sides is now on the South attempting without supplemental Os. He&#8217;s was C3 and headed up now.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Next Up<\/h3>\n<p data-ft=\"{&quot;tn&quot;:&quot;C&quot;}\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/AsianTrekking\/posts\/1062403817245970\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Asian Trekking<\/a> has a mind blowing 41 members hoping to summit starting Sunday 20 May through 25 May. The commercial teams of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alpineascents.com\/climbs\/mount-everest\/cybercasts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alpine Ascents<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainguides.com\/everest-south18.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IMG<\/a> and are all headed up now, most are at C3 or the South Col Saturday. Ben Jones of AAI made a comment that caught my eye suggest a change in the weather &#8220;<strong>The entire team is doing excellent and looking forward to heading to the South Col tomorrow if the forecast still looks good for us! I\u2019ll send some photos tomorrow and let you know if we decided to head to the South Col (Camp 4) at almost 8,000m.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p data-ft=\"{&quot;tn&quot;:&quot;C&quot;}\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pg\/furtenbachadventures\/posts\/?ref=page_internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Furtenbach<\/a> has their &#8220;flash&#8221; team at C2 hoping to get to the summit on the 22nd. They pre-acclimatized and are on a 4 week home to home program.\u00a0<a class=\"_64-f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/LianoDavid\/\">David Lia\u00f1o<\/a>\u00a0is now on Everest and Lhotse before heading to K2. He attempted Kang but was stopped by weather.\u00a0<a class=\"_64-f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/kurikiyama\/\">Nobukazu Kuriki<\/a>\u00a0is at C2 now hoping to summit in a day or two. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/rupert.jones.warner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rupert Jones Warner<\/a> is traveling to the Tibet side for his next attempt. He summited from Nepal on 17 May. <a class=\"_64-f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/horia.colibasanu\/\">Horia Colibasanu<\/a>\u00a0and <a class=\"_64-f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/himalayadventures\/\">Peter H\u00e1mor<\/a> are at C2 on the Nepal side hoping to summit via the West Ridge then traverse to Lhotse. They are concerned about the incoming weather since they need several days. Not looking good for their effort as near the end of the season.<\/p>\n<h2>Other 8000ers<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pg\/7summittreks\/posts\/?ref=page_internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Seven Summits Treks<\/a> put 8 Indian climbers on the summit of\u00a0<strong>Dhaulagiri<\/strong>\u00a0 albeit in extreme cold with low winds chills and a slightly different message from other climbers. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RetoCarlosSoria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carlos Soria<\/a>\u00a0had dropped out two days ago. My dear friend Ryan Kushner and his team turned back due to the extreme conditions so I not 100% sure the AT team summited. One of his partner, Christopher Manning sent this sat message:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sat Message from Christopher Manning from Camp 2 ( Lat 28.706771 Long: 83.51371)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yes everything is ok, but the wind was high and fixed ropes not in place. I decided after an hour of waiting @7,600m to descend. The remaining 9 climbers Including Debasish Biswas stayed to go up further. No idea if they summited or their status currently.<span class=\"text_exposed_show\"> I left with my partner Ryan from C3 to C2. Any other ..Oh yes a big team did from many expeditions.\u00a0<\/span>Debasis Biswas and Waldi (Poland ) from 7 summits after their expedition cancelled with 1 Sherpa. 5 from Taiwan, Two ladies from Spain Lina Castro I think her name is and Eva from Spain. Myself and Ryan Kushner from the USA. It&#8217;s more about the entire experience, or set of experiences, that make up the journey as a whole. There are many times it is uncomfortable and we&#8217;d rather be anywhere else. There are also times we&#8217;re extremely satisfied and happy to be where we are because the environment we are in is so incredible we feel very, very privileged to be here.
