During this Virtual Everest 2020 – Support the Climbing Sherpas<\/em><\/strong><\/a> project, I’m adding a new aspect of my coverage, video interviews with knowledgeable individuals of Nepal and Mt. Everest. Today I interviewed\u00a0Tendi Sherpa.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tendi is well known throughout Nepal and the world. He founded the company TAGnepal<\/a> and runs treks and expeditions in Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet. He co-founded Himali<\/a>, a gear company,\u00a0with David Schaeffer. Also, he is the sirdar and lead for private expeditions for Mike Hamill’s company, Climbing the Seven Summits<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Born near the 8000er, Makalu, he began his mountaineering career as a porter at age 13 but a year later, summitted the 21,247-foot Mera Peak. Today, he has 13 successful summits of Everest plus Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Manaslu, and Ama Dablam. \u00a0He\u00a0is an IFMGA\/UIAGM Certified Mountain Guide.<\/p>\n

His foundation, the Tendi Sherpa Foundation<\/a>, works in remote parts of Nepal providing education for children, building bridges, trails, and schools. He lives in Kathmandu with his wife and daughter.<\/p>\n
