A second Chinese team of 13 climbers summited, making the total now 50 Chinese in this season. Five of the climbers installed a series of weather stations on Everest. The highest station was installed around 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 4, 2022, located just beneath the summit at 8800-meters.<\/p>\n

They live-streamed<\/a> the climb and installation on Facebook on May 4, 2022.<\/p>\n

The station is powered by solar panels and should transmit data every 12 minutes. It’s designed to last for two years.<\/p>\n

Nepal<\/h2>\n

There is talk of a storm brewing in the Bay of Bengal around May 12, but the track is uncertain at the moment. Forecasters are keeping their eyes on it. It might be nice if the climbers could complete their rotations before then, in any event. However, please note that are\u00a0No Current Tropical Cyclone Warnings in effect as of May 4, 2022.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

It looks like the NatGeo\/Rolex weather station is back online from C2, but not most of the others:<\/p>\n

Everest<\/strong>: On Monday, a small collapse in the Icefall near Camp 1 required the Docs to work on the route, but it’s open now. This is quite normal throughout the season. Light snow and winds will prevail for a few days, nothing serious. Teams continue with rotations; some will sleep at C3.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kanchenjunga<\/strong>: Kang had over 60 permits issued, so expect a lot of action over the next few days. \u00a0Pioneer Adventure<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0will be going for the summit tonight, May 4:<\/span><\/p>\n

We are delighted to let you know that our Kanchenjunga Expedition-2022 team of elite mountaineering guides and clients with their team leaders have safely reached Camp -3. We wish a luck with their imminent goal for tomorrow, their steps on Camp 4. We are also anticipating the summit push by the evening of 4th May 2022, and hopefully, we aim to achieve our goal of scaling Kanchenjunga soon.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We tried the Kanchenjunga summit on 27th April but missed reaching the summit. Only our team was there on summit push. About 90% of the rope on Kanchenjunga was only fixed by @imaginenepal team. We had heavy snowfall on 26th April’s night though the weather report showed less snow. So the reason, we had to break the route through heavy snow and made a mistake following old ropes above 8300m which lost our way and time and had to abort our summit push even after we made corrections on route. Only the reason to abort our summit push was the safety of our team members including sherpa. We will try the Kanchenjunga summit soon, waiting for a good weather window.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
