It was the third straight morning of summits on Mt. Everest in very good conditions. Saturday morning saw well over 75 people summit bringing the total from both sides to around 350. More summit bid tonight for Sunday morning. Also, we are seeing many people being the first from their country to summit Everest.<\/p>\r\n

This weather continues to be very rare. While I hear an occasional comment about wind, most teams are saying it’s goldilocks conditions up there – not too hot, not too cold and not too windy, and no clouds or snow. In looking at a few forecasts, it appears this will continue to at least May 20. Of course, there will always be an unforeseen spat of winds or snow; after all, this is mountain weather. But for now, we are seeing 2018-like conditions where there were 11 straight days of good summit conditions allowing teams to spread out.<\/p>\r\n

    8K Expeditions<\/a>, which is making a huge entry into the market, announced 20 summits this Saturday morning between 5:00 and 6:00 am, May 14, 2022, in excellent weather. Pemba Sherpa<\/a>, owner of 8k tells me. that a critical member of the 8K team is Norwegian Kristin Harila<\/a>, 36, who plans to summit all 14 peaks in six months. This season, she already has Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and \u00a0Kanchanjunga. Now, she is going for Everest and Lhotse, then Makalu. \u00a0She\u2019ll then go for the Pakistani 8000ers after these. She will do her Everest\/Lhotse summit bid on May 21st. But this morning’s Everest summit list:<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

        Mike Hammils’ Climbing The Seven Summits<\/a> reports more top outs after a huge day yesterday with Gabby Kanizay, 18, reportedly the youngest Australian to Summit Everest, with her mother, Jane Kanizay, and Sherpa support from Tendi Sherpa and Pasang Sherpa. She joins Lucy Westlake<\/a> (she already has a Wiki page!) as the youngest, 18 also, setting an American female record.<\/p>\r\n
