We just returned from a carry from Vinson Base Camp to Low Camp. This involves carrying about half our entire gear split between sleds and packs.<\/p>\n

It was a long 9 hour day but very rewarding. We covered about 6 miles gaining 2300′ on the hard packed ice and snow.<\/p>\n

\"Toilet<\/a>Let me back up. The flight from Union Glacier was beyond words, as are all of the views. It is hard to imagine that what looks like clouds is really ice covered ground. I am eager to share more photos when I get home.<\/p>\n

Thus far the weather has been great – clear skies with little wind. But it did get a bit cold last night -15F in the tent! Oh,and it never gets dark. The sun moves counterclockwise about 30 degrees above the horizon.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow we move to low camp then probably take a rest day before climbing to high camp and then the summit. But all that is a few days from now.<\/p>\n

So far so good. This place is simply incredible.<\/p>\n
