Multiple media<\/a> outlets report that two Mongolian climbers are missing. Usukhjargal Tsedendamba, 31 and Purevsuren Lkhagvajav, 53, were using base camp-only services from 8K Expeditions and climbing together without supplemental oxygen or Sherpa support. They left for the summit from the South Col at 8:45 a.m. on May 13 and haven’t been heard from since. High winds were reported at 70-80 kmh\/45-50 mph. A search team has been dispatched by 8K.<\/p>\n

The team<\/a> leader, D. Orgilkhuu posted on their website before they left home, “Our team\u2019s main purpose and the specialty of this climb is no additional oxygen and no guide or Sherpa. We want to show the patience of the Mongols and challenge ourselves. For a whole year, we have trained ourselves, so it will be okay. As we all have mountaineering experience of more than 10 years, we are confident in ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Everest, there have been about 93 summits thus far, with 414 permits issued to foreigners.<\/p>\n

With continuing poor weather of high winds and deep snow, the neater season has been declared over for climbers on Dhaulagiri, 8167 meters.<\/p>\n
