A tragic incident occurred involving one of Imagine Nepal’s clients, Guan Jing<\/a>, who resides in the San Jose area. She was inadvertently struck by a rock between Camp 1 and Advanced Base Camp and sadly lost her life. The accident occurred on Tuesday night, August 12, 2025 (Pakistan time).\u00a0<\/p>\n

She had successfully summited with Mingma G’s Imagine Nepal team on August 11. A family friend informed me of her passing, and the Kathmandu-based Tourism Times published confirmation on August 13, 2025, mentioning that efforts were ongoing to recover her remains.<\/p>\n

Jing Guan was known for summiting Everest earlier and was an avid yoga practitioner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This is the second fatality on K2 this season, both resulting from rockfalls below C1. Last month, a Pakistani climber unfortunately lost his life following an avalanche near Camp 1 on K2, the country’s highest peak. According to the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP), four climbers were impacted by the avalanche; two returned safely to base camp, and one sustained minor injuries. Sadly, Iftikhar Hussain Sadpara, a climber from Skardu, was killed. His body was recovered and transported back to base camp shortly after the incident.<\/p>\n
