A resting yak at Everest basecamp |
Yaks carry food and tents to basecamp. They rest when they get there because it is a long way and their loads are very heavy. The yaks have thick fur that keeps them warm in the wind and cold, especially when it snows. Their keepers put blankets on their backs to protect them from the heavy loads. It snows a lot on Everest. Sometimes it can snow as tall as you are in one day! | |
