How do the sherpas string together such a long “ladder” to cross that crevasse…and then to secure it? Wouldn’t it be not secured into the ice at some point before they put the screws in and stuff?
They tie them together on “flat” ground then lean the up via amazing human strength and let them drop on the wall. Or they assemble them from above after free climbing the all (another amazing feat) and lower them down. Yes, in the beginning the ladders are “floating”. More tribute to the amazing Icefall Doctors. Think about how they did the same thing with huge logs back in the early Everest climbs!!
