Alan, my prayers to you and everyone on the mountain – get home safe.

Cathy, I have been scared crazy for you; you’re in my thoughts. I’d been away from headlines for a couple of days and I also go long periods without checking the blog and when I read about the tragedy and became more aware of what exactly was going on over there, I immediately went here and said to myself and God, ‘oh, please, don’t have Cathy’s husband be over there right now,” then my heart sunk when I read about Camp 1 & 2, etc. I couldn’t pull up the audio but I can see from the comments that Alan is okay and I’m shedding some happier tears for you both. They’ll get them out of there; just hang on, dear. Alan’s smart; he’s experienced; he’s got a level head. From your old friend in SoCal…

Happy to see you and Jim are safe. Please be careful and prayers for all who are dealing with this horrible situation. Blessings.

Brings many tears to my eyes, but so glad that you, Garrett, my old friends at AAI, and those I know are safe. So sad for those who are not and for their loved ones. We are searching info from many sources now and will continue to follow major team updates so thanks for that advice Alan. So glad you are safe. What a devastation once again for all that is Everest and beyond…

Nice to see you keeping safe – hope and pray the rest of the teams are doing the same. May the mountain gods bless all of you.

Move map to the left to Asia. Click ‘plus’ sign, on the scale, to zoom in to Nepal. Click on sphere for data, or scroll down to see chart with text listings of earthquake data.

Informative interactive realtime world earthquake map. Spheres represent individual earthquakes/aftershocks, positioned on each individual epicenter location. Move map to the left until locate Asia, then click plus sign on the scale, on the left, to zoom in to Nepal area. Click on a sphere for data of magnitude, depth, time, etc. Note that the time is UTC, which I believe is about 6 hrs earlier than Nepal time. Also, scroll down to see a chart with a text listing of earthquake data.

Alan, your dispatches are much appreciated, all over the world. I follow them from my home in Bali, Indonesia. I’m thinking now of my sister Emily Johnston, who is an IMG guide (and medical doctor) on their Everest team. She would have been at EBC or C1 at the time of the quakes. No news yet. If you get any news of Em and IMG teams, pls let me know.
