It’s been confirmed that high winds have destroyed Camp 2 along with the tents and gear. Time to reassess for some expeditions. No injuries as the Camp was empty.
With a break in the winds starting Sunday, 1/9/21, look for many climbers to head up K2 to finish their acclimatization. Over 50 people next week so coordination will be critical.
Minga G tells me the ropes to 7300-meters, a bit higher than the previous estimate. However, with the big winds and everyone at Base Camp, it feels a bit academic at the moment.
The winds continue to hit K2 and now some are feeling a bit less optimistic than even a few days ago.

With high winds on K2, everyone is back in Base Camp waiting for the next window later this week. Updates from individual climbers.
The winds have returned and are forecasted to stay strong throughout the week. That said, there are reports of climbers going up anyway. Also, expect to another team arrive next week that may shake things up.
