Everest 2021: Should, Could, Would?

Everest April 6 2015

Climbers on winter K2 are watching the weather forecasts with anticipation, hoping a break in the winds will give them their chance. Meanwhile, with the Everest 2021 Spring season only a few weeks away, there are lingering questions about whether climbers will go, and those who are, should they. Let’s explore the issues.

Now that China and Nepal have agreed that the revised measurement of Mount Everest is 8848.86-meters or 29,031.69-feet or 33.85 inches higher (no, the mountain didn’t grow that much!), they have to agree on a name.

Climbing the World to End Alzheimer’s

I lost my mom, Ida Arnette, and four aunts to Alzheimer's. Every climb I complete is dedicated to their memory — and to ending this disease for the families who come after us. Please join me in the fight.

Read the full story of why this cause matters so deeply to me.

The facts are staggering — and they're getting worse:

- No cure. Always fatal. Every single person diagnosed will die from it.
- 7.4 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's today — projected to reach 13.8 million by 2060
- A new case develops every 3 seconds somewhere in the world
- 6th leading cause of death in the United States — deaths have risen 134% since 2000, while deaths from heart disease and stroke have declined
- 55+ million people worldwide are affected — and no easy, affordable method of early detection exists
- Annual care costs in the US alone exceed $412 billion — borne largely by families

Your donation directly funds research to find a cure, improve early detection, and support the millions of families who — like mine — are living through this right now.

Donate to Alzheimer's Research Today

Every dollar counts. Every summit I climb is for them.
